urban gardens ad food self-production.
Thanks to a mobile app capable of geo-referencing photos of abandoned spaces and unused soils, Land2Lend will be able to map territory involved in the project, discovering places suitable for starting gardens and cultivation, promoting self-employments of unoccupied people as well as startup of bigger new companies in agro-food sector.
Macroeconomic data provided by ISTAT and other research institutions in recent years have photographed the deep crisis in which the Italian and international economy lies.
In contrast, the only sector capable of keeping a positive trend is agriculture: where industry and service sector marked a decline in productivity and wages, agriculture has maintained a growth in terms of production and profitability, scoring also an increase in the number of employees.
Growth estimates are confirmed for the coming years, and associations grouping companies active in that specific segment forecast 100 thousand new jobs only in Italy. The agri-food sector is therefore a great opportunity to investment, with high margins (40-50%).
At the same time so-called "BACK TO LAND" trend is involving an increasing number of people; according to a recent research conducted by AgrieTour (national exhibition of agritourism) on the perception of rural world, even a third of Italians (32.7%) would be interested in designing a life in the country and as many (31.7%) would like to work the land directly, either for business or recreation, self-producing their own food.
All these actors are an undervalued ecosystem not interconnected with great potential unspoken.
